It's finally official! No longer a rumor, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories has been announced for a North American release on the PS2, coming out December 2nd, 2008 at a retail price of $29.99! Here's the official press release from Square-Enix.com:

SQUARE ENIX ANNOUNCES KINGDOM HEARTS RE:CHAIN OF MEMORIES FOR NORTH AMERICA
Fans Can Now Complete Their KINGDOM HEARTS Experience, as the Missing Link Makes Its Way to North American Shores for the First Time Los Angeles (September 19, 2008)

Square Enix, Inc., the publisher of Square Enix® interactive entertainment products in North America, and Disney Interactive Studios, announced today that KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories will be released for North American audiences on December 2, 2008.

KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories is the essential piece that bridges the gap between KINGDOM HEARTS and KINGDOM HEARTS II. Originally released in 2004 for Game Boy® Advance, this full 3D rendition on the PlayStation®2 has never been released in North America — this is an entry in the KINGDOM HEARTS saga that fans of the series can’t miss!

We now have a new Content Writer, and his name is Yttrxium. He has extensive knowledge in the KH series, and is very friendly and easy to get along with. Please, treat him with respect and kindness as you would any other Site Staff member.

Also, we have let go two of our staff members: Stavvy and Dark Knight. This is because neither of them virtually did no work for KHU and never posted a single news article in their time here. Ytt, don't let this happen to you.

Forum Downtime

As many of you have noticed, the forums have been down for quite a while now. This is due to a mistake made when trying to upgrade the forum to version 3.7.2 But, I assure you, KHU readers, the KHU forums WILL be back before 2009 begins. They may not be the same forums you all knew and loved, but it WILL be back, I promise you.

Coded on PSP Releasing 2009?
Written by: TwilightMan on 14 Sep 2008
Rumors are still floating around, but this time the focus on the elusive mobile title Kingdom Hearts Coded! According to PSX Extreme, the buzz is that the title may release on the PSP as well sometime in 2009. Here's an excerpt:

"For now, Kingdom Hearts: Coded is only a mobile phone title, but according to European game site PS3Life, the title is also coming to the PSP. Supposedly, they're focusing on other more current titles in the hopper for now, which is why Square Enix hasn't revealed this as truth."

While that would be great news for Westerners wanting to play the game, there is no official word on it. Keep in mind that Square Enix ported other titles from mobile to PSP like FFXIII Agito and The 3rd Birthday. Therefore it's likely, we'll have to wait and see what happens at TGS 2008.

Re:Chain of Memories for PS2 in NA Confirmed?

Thanks to JakeH from the KH Insider community for the tip! Seems like a Square Enix employee at Gamestop Expo in Las Vegas made a silent hint toward Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories being released for PlayStation 2 overseas. Here is what we heard.

"Once Square-Enix was up, there was a small mention of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. When asked if it was the one that was included with Final Mix II in Japan, they confirmed it with a nod. There hasn't been any official announcement through Square, just a small mention..."

This falls in line with the rumor we heard a few months ago about English voice actors being casted. But please continue to regard it as a rumor seeing as their is no official statement from the Square Enix company on a Western release. Thanks to Kotaku.com for the article.
